Speaking on a podcast with former English cricketers, Shastri shared how these icons command massive advertising deals, often shooting 15-20 ads in a single day

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has spilled the beans on the jaw-dropping endorsement earnings of Indian cricket superstars like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar. Speaking on the Stick To Cricket podcast, Shastri claimed these icons easily make over âš100 crore a yearâprimarily through brand endorsements.
In a candid and revealing moment on the Stick To Cricket podcast, former India head coach Ravi Shastri opened up about the massive earnings Indian cricket superstars rake inânot just from playing, but from brand endorsements.Â
Asked by ex-England captain Michael Vaughan about how much Indiaâs cricket legends earn, Shastriâs reply floored the panel:
âThey earn a lot. A lot through endorsements, for sureâupwards of 100 crores.â When asked to clarify the conversion, he explained:
âThat would be ten millionâten million pounds. I just calculate one hundred rupees as one pound. You work backwards and you can get upwards of that.â The figure left Vaughan and others visibly stunned, with a chorus of âWow!â echoing through the episode.
Shastri went on to explain the sheer demand for stars like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar in their prime.
âThey would do over 15-20 ads. And itâs per day. There is no time. You could easily do more but cricket doesnât allow that. So theyâll do an ad for a year and just give a single day to shoot.â The revelation highlights how Indian cricketers, even though playing a sport with limited global reach compared to football or basketball, have become some of the most marketable athletes in the world.
From sports to commerce, these cricket legends are not just household namesâthey're global brand juggernauts.
