In an unexpected turn of events during a third division Peruvian league match, Atletico Awajun's Sebastian Munoz was shown a red card and ejected from the game for urinating on the ground.

The incident took place during a Copa Peru fixture between Atletico Awajun and Cantorcillo FC on Sunday. With the score tied and Atletico Awajun awarded a corner kick in the 71st minute, the game was momentarily halted due to an injury to Cantorcillo’s goalkeeper, who was lying on the field.

During the brief stoppage, Munoz approached the corner flag to prepare for the kick. However, after the game had been delayed, he turned away from the play and urinated near the corner flag. This behaviour did not go unnoticed, as Cantorcillo FC players promptly brought it to the referee’s attention.

The referee responded by issuing a red card to Munoz, resulting in his immediate dismissal from the match. The player, visibly shocked, could only watch in disbelief as he was escorted off the field.

While such incidents are rare, they are not unprecedented. Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and English football legend Gary Lineker have previously been involved in similar situations, though neither faced the same level of disciplinary action as Munoz. (With inputs from Agencies)
