Nottingham: Nottingham Forest dismissed Sean Dyche on Thursday, beginning a search for their fourth permanent head coach of a volatile Premier League campaign.

Dyche was relieved of his duties in the early hours of the morning, just 114 days after taking the job. The decision followed a frustrating 0-0 home draw against bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, a result that left Forest hovering just three points above the relegation zone.

"Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach," the club announced in a statement. "We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club, and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time."

A Season of Turmoil

The dismissal continues a period of extreme instability at the City Ground under owner Evangelos Marinakis.

  • Nuno Espirito Santo: After guiding Forest to a seventh-place finish last season, Nuno was fired in September 2025 following a reported breakdown in his relationship with the club’s hierarchy.
  • Ange Postecoglou: The former Tottenham manager was hired as Nuno's successor but lasted just 40 days. Marinakis terminated his contract almost immediately following a 3-0 loss to Chelsea in October.
  • Sean Dyche: Appointed to stabilise the team, Dyche managed only two victories in his final 10 league games.

Relegation Fears Mount

Despite creating numerous chances in the stalemate against Wolves, Forest’s inability to score proved fatal for Dyche’s tenure. The team has struggled for form since the turn of the year, a slide that included an embarrassing FA Cup exit at the hands of Wrexham.

With 12 matches remaining to secure their top-flight status, club officials are moving quickly to find a replacement. Former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira, who previously worked under Marinakis at Olympiacos, has emerged as a frontrunner for the vacancy.

The new appointment will inherit a squad currently sitting 17th in the table, facing a crucial run of fixtures that will determine if the twice-European champions can avoid the drop to the Championship.
