Kerala Blasters captain Adrian Luna and striker Noah Sadaoui were involved in a heated argument during injury time in their Indian Super League match against Chennaiyin FC. The altercation occurred in the 94th minute when Sadaoui opted to take a shot instead of passing to Luna, despite two teammates being in a better position near the goal. His effort went well over the crossbar, frustrating Luna, who confronted Sadaoui over the missed opportunity.
The disagreement quickly escalated, with the two players shoving each other and exchanging harsh words. Other teammates, including a Kerala Blasters player, intervened to separate them. A video of the altercation has since been circulating on social media, drawing criticism from fans.
Reports suggest tensions had been building within the squad since the start of the season, particularly regarding Sadaoui’s reluctance to pass. Fans had also raised concerns over his playing style.
Kerala Blasters secure 3-1 victory
Despite the controversy, Kerala Blasters secured a 3-1 victory over ten-man Chennaiyin FC at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The visitors struck early, with Jesús Jiménez scoring in the third minute. Chennaiyin suffered a further setback in the 37th minute when Wilmar Jordan Gil was sent off for a soft foul. Kerala capitalised on their numerical advantage, doubling the lead in first-half stoppage time.
In the second half, Connor Shields came close to scoring for Chennaiyin, but Kerala extended their lead around the hour mark. Vincy Barretto pulled one back for the hosts in the closing minutes, netting his first league goal of the season. Chennaiyin will now aim to bounce back against East Bengal on Saturday.
