Madrid: French forward Karim Benzema will leave Real Madrid at the end of this season, the Spanish giants announced on Sunday. Reports indicate the French forward would sign a mouth-watering deal with Saudi Arabian pro soccer league club Al Nassr.

"Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end his brilliant and unforgettable period as a player at our club," Real said in a statement published hours before their final league match of the season.

Meanwhile, Eden Hazard's frustrating stint at Real Madrid has officially ended after the Spanish club announced on Saturday it will be parting ways with him and fellow forward Marco Asensio.

While the 32-year-old Hazard barely played for Madrid in recent years, Asensio was a useful backup and scorer off the bench.

Hazard had one more year on the five-year contract he signed when he arrived on a blockbuster 100-million-euro transfer from Chelsea in 2019. The Belgium forward was plagued by nagging injuries from the start and fell out of contention for playing time. AFP
