New Delhi: Much to the excitement of Indian football fans, the Federation Cup tournament is set to make a return after a gap of six years. The AIFF (All India Football Federation) issued a press release stating the same. Authorities claimed that the tournament would be held every year from now on, starting with the 2023-24 season. The tournament will once again be a vital part of the nation’s footballing calendar.

In addition to this, AIFF has also incorporated five new teams into the I-League, with an intention of making the tournament more competitive. The football federation inducted five corporate teams who had expressed their willingness to join the league.

In addition to this, KFSA (Karnataka State Football Association) secretary M Satyanarayan was appointed as the new deputy secretary general of AIFF. All the decisions were taken in the AIFF executive committee meeting held on Monday.    

The new teams in I-League are owned by YMS Finance Pvt Ltd (Varanasi), Namdhari Seeds Pvt Ltd (Bhaini Sahib Village, Punjab), Nimida United Sports Development Pvt Ltd (Bengaluru, Karnataka), Concatenate Advest Advisory Pvt Ltd (Delhi), and Bunkerhill Pvt Ltd (Ambala, Haryana).
