New Jersey: England captain Harry Kane has etched his name into the history books, becoming the nation’s all-time record goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup. Kane reached the milestone during England's 2-0 victory over Panama at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday (IST), taking his personal tally to 11 goals in the tournament.

The 32-year-old striker headed home a precise cross from Jude Bellingham in the 67th minute, moving him past the long-standing record of 10 goals previously held by Gary Lineker. The goal capped a dominant second-half performance for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who had struggled to break down a resilient Panamanian defence in a cagey opening period.

Kane had previously drawn level with Lineker’s record on 18 June (IST), after scoring a brace against Croatia. Speaking to ITV Sport after the match, teammate Jude Bellingham was quick to praise his captain’s impact: "You see the effort that he puts in as a captain, you see how he leads us, his quality speaks for itself - he's the best."

The victory, which also saw Bellingham find the back of the net in the 62nd minute, ensured England finished at the top of Group L. Despite a slow start to the match, the Three Lions successfully navigated the challenge, maintaining their unbeaten status in the group stage.

Thomas Tuchel, reflecting on his team's performance, remained focused on the challenges ahead: "We will step up; the bigger the games get, the bigger we will get."

England, now confirmed as group winners, move on to the knockout stages with a sense of momentum. They are scheduled to play their Round of 32 tie in Atlanta this coming Wednesday, where they will face a third-placed side from a group yet to be finalised.
