The historic milestone came on another memorable night for France, as Mbappé and Dembélé inspired Les Bleus to a comfortable victory over Morocco and a place in the semi-finals.

France joined one of the most exclusive clubs in FIFA World Cup history after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the 2026 quarter-finals, becoming the first team since Brazil in 2002 to have two players score at least five goals in a single tournament.
Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé have now scored eight and five goals respectively, matching the feat achieved by Brazil's legendary duo of Ronaldo (8) and Rivaldo (5) during the Seleção's triumphant 2002 World Cup campaign.
The historic milestone came on another memorable night for France, as Mbappé and Dembélé inspired Les Bleus to a comfortable victory over Morocco and a place in the semi-finals.
Mbappé, who earlier saw a first-half penalty saved by Yassine Bounou, broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box. Dembélé doubled France's advantage six minutes later, finishing clinically after a flowing attacking move to seal the win.
The France captain also achieved another personal landmark during the victory, becoming the first player in the history of the France men's national team to be involved in 100 goals. Mbappé's tally now stands at 64 goals and 36 assists for Les Bleus.
His goal against Morocco was also the 20th of his FIFA World Cup career, moving him to within one goal of Lionel Messi's World Cup tally.
France dominated the contest throughout, finishing with a commanding 21-4 advantage in total shots and an 8-1 edge in shots on target, rarely allowing Morocco to threaten despite the Atlas Lions enjoying spells of possession.
Mbappé had the chance to give France an early lead from the penalty spot after being brought down by Noussair Mazraoui inside the box in the first half. However, following a lengthy VAR review, Bounou guessed correctly to save the spot-kick, denying the French star for the second time from the spot in the tournament.
The missed penalty did little to slow Mbappé's influence. He responded with the opening goal before playing a key role in France's second, drawing defenders away to create space for Dembélé to score his fifth goal of the tournament.
The victory also carried a sense of déjà vu for France, who defeated Morocco by the same 2-0 scoreline in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals. Les Bleus are now one step closer to another appearance in the final and remain on course to become only the third nation to reach three consecutive FIFA World Cup finals.
France will now face either Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals as they continue their pursuit of back-to-back World Cup titles.
