Los Angeles: Swiss starlet Johan Manzambi has etched his name indelibly into footballing folklore following a breathtaking performance against Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Coming off the bench in the 71st minute, the 20-year-old midfielder scored two sensational goals to inspire a 4-1 victory at the Los Angeles Stadium.

Shaking Up the Record Books
By netting twice within a twenty-minute cameo, Manzambi officially became the country's youngest World Cup brace scorer (two goals in a single match). The Geneva-born prodigy, born on 14 October 2005, has also secured his status as the youngest Swiss goalscorer at a World Cup tournament since 1950.
His historic substitute double broke a stubborn Bosnian defence that had held firm for over an hour. Manzambi opened the scoring in the 74th minute with a crisp, powerful volley that completely beat opposition goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj.
Following a red card for Bosnia’s Tarik Muharemović and a subsequent goal from fellow Swiss substitute Rubén Vargas, Manzambi struck again in the 90th minute. The youngster coolly finished off a well-worked tactical move to put the contest completely out of reach before late goals from Ermin Mahmić and Granit Xhaka finalised the 4-1 scoreline.
A Meteoric Rise
The SC Freiburg sensation has effortlessly carried his impressive club performance into the international arena. Manzambi arrived at the tournament after being named the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League Revelation of the Season, highlighting his outstanding domestic campaign in Germany.
The historic victory has now propelled Murat Yakin's side to the top of Group B with four points.
