FIFA has confirmed the host nations for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups, with the centenary tournament spanning six countries across three continents before Saudi Arabia stages the 2034 edition.

The governing body approved the hosts for both tournaments during its Extraordinary FIFA Congress in December 2024, giving football fans and participating nations clarity on where the world's biggest sporting event will be held after the 2026 World Cup.
Which countries will host the 2030 FIFA World Cup?
The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, making it another multi-nation tournament following the 2026 edition.
However, the centenary World Cup will also feature special opening matches in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to commemorate 100 years since the inaugural FIFA World Cup, which was staged in Uruguay in 1930.
The arrangement means the tournament will have a unique footprint across Europe, Africa and South America, making it one of the most expansive editions in World Cup history.
FIFA World Cup 2030 dates
The 2030 tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 8, 2030, with the final set to be played on Sunday, July 21, 2030.
The opening fixtures in South America are intended to honour the tournament's centenary before the competition moves to its primary host nations.
Will the 2030 World Cup have a new format?
As of now, the 2030 FIFA World Cup is expected to follow the 48-team format introduced in 2026. However, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said the governing body will examine a proposal to expand the tournament to 64 teams for the centenary edition. FIFA has not approved the proposal, and no final decision has been announced.
Who will host the 2034 FIFA World Cup?
FIFA has confirmed Saudi Arabia as the host nation for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The Gulf nation will stage the tournament after the completion of the 2030 edition, becoming the first country confirmed to host football's biggest event in that cycle.
