FC Goa CEO Ravi Puskur has confirmed that Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s visa has been submitted for processing ahead of his potential trip to India for the AFC Champions League 2 clash against FC Goa, according to Marcus Mergulhao of The Times of India.

The Goa police have assured the ISL club that security arrangements will be managed even if confirmation about Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo traveling with Al-Nassr FC comes late, wrote Marcus Mergulhao in The Times of India.

FC Goa is set to face Al-Nassr, captained by Ronaldo, in an AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) group-stage clash at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on October 22.

Ronaldo has not been included in the matchday squads for Al-Nassr’s first two group-stage games, against FC Istiklol at home and Iraq’s Al Zawraa away. Early this week, FC Goa officials met with the state police to discuss operational arrangements for the high-profile fixture.

According to reports, a decision was taken to increase the number of police staff for the game. FC Goa clarified that the final confirmation on Ronaldo’s participation rests with the club and is typically communicated close to travel.

“The police sought clarity on Ronaldo, and we conveyed that the final confirmation rests with Al-Nassr and is typically communicated close to travel. At Al-Nassr’s request, we have submitted his visa application for processing,” Ravi Puskur said.

Al-Nassr, the Saudi Pro League giants, boast a star-studded squad featuring Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Joao Felix (Chelsea), and Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich). With Ronaldo potentially captaining Al-Nassr in Goa, the fixture promises to be the standout encounter of the ACL2 group stages.
