New Delhi: The 65th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament will kick off on August 18, with 107 teams, including teams from Sri Lanka, set to compete this year. The football extravaganza, which will continue until September 24, will feature more than 215 matches.

Announcing the tournament schedule, Air Marshal S. Sivakumar said the Indian Air Force and the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society remain committed to making the Subroto Cup better and more competitive every year.

The Subroto Cup will provide a valuable platform for young footballers to take the next step in their careers, Air Marshal S. Sivakumar said.

The tournament will be held in three categories — Junior Boys (Under-17), Junior Girls (Under-17) and Sub-Junior Boys (Under-15). Matches will be played in Delhi and Bengaluru.

The tournament was instituted in 1960 by Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee with the aim of nurturing sporting talent.

In the 64th edition of the Subroto Cup, Farook Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, emerged as champions in the Under-17 category. Betkuchi High School, Guwahati, were the champions in the Junior Girls category, while Minerva Public School won the Sub-Junior title.
