Bengaluru: Smriti Mandhana, the opener for the Indian women's cricket team, achieved her seventh century in One Day Internationals during the second match of the series against South Africa Women at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, equalling the record set by former India captain Mithali Raj for the most centuries in ODIs for India.

Mandhana's innings of 136 runs off 120 balls was decorated with 18 boundaries and two sixes. Her century played a pivotal role in India's formidable total of 325/3, alongside Harmanpreet Kaur's unbeaten 103 off 88 balls.

In addition to matching the record for most ODI hundreds by an Indian, Mandhana also crossed the 7000-run mark in international cricket during this innings. Mithali Raj remains the highest run-scorer for India with 10,868 international runs.

South Africa Women's bowlers faced a tough challenge against India's batting onslaught, with Mlaba taking two wickets and Klaas claiming one wicket in their attempts to stem the flow of runs. Despite their efforts, India secured victory by a margin of four runs in the match. ANI
