Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan describs how the Australian star’s on-field aggression transforms into warmth and supportiveness when he is a teammate

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has opened up about his experience of sharing a dressing room with David Warner, offering rare insight into the Australian batter’s contrasting personalities as an opponent and as a teammate.
Shadab’s remarks, shared in a video posted by the Big Bash League’s official Instagram handle, have since gone viral.
In the video, Shadab referred to Warner as a “legend of the game” and said playing alongside him has been a valuable learning experience. He noted that while he has faced Warner numerous times as an opponent, this is the first occasion he has played in the same team as him, making the experience particularly special.
What stood out in Shadab’s comments was his observation of Warner’s personality shift. According to Shadab, Warner is intense and fierce when playing against you on the field. However, once he becomes a teammate, that aggression gives way to a friendly and supportive nature.
Shadab explained that as a teammate, Warner looks after everyone in the group, tries to manage things around him, and ensures others feel comfortable in the dressing room. He added that this ability to switch from a ruthless competitor to a caring teammate is what sets great players apart.
Both Shadab Khan and David Warner are part of the Sydney Thunder squad in the Big Bash League, a pairing that has already attracted attention from fans. For Shadab, the opportunity to share the field with a player he has long admired is not only exciting but also an important chance to learn from one of modern cricket’s most recognisable names.
