In one of the most glamorous matchups in the Champions Trophy cricket tournament, India chasing a target of 242 runs against Pakistan, lost their first wicket. Captain Rohit Sharma, who had given the team a strong start with 20 runs off 15 balls, including a six and three fours, was dismissed. Earlier, Pakistan, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, were all out for 241 runs in 49.4 overs. The innings of Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, and Khushdil Shah were pivotal in helping Pakistan post a competitive total.
Pakistan, the hosts of the ongoing Champions Trophy, find themselves in a do-or-die situation as they will virtually be out of the tournament in the group stage if they lose the match against India.
