Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the IPL 2025 titleholders, announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh each for the families of the eleven fans who died in the stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team’s victory celebrations on June 4, 2025.

The announcement was made through RCB’s official social media accounts under the new program "RCB Cares." This initiative represents a long-term commitment to support the affected families and the broader community of fans.

The stampede occurred less than 24 hours after RCB won their first IPL title, during a gathering of thousands of supporters outside the stadium. The stadium's capacity of 32,000 was heavily exceeded by the estimated crowd of over 200,000 people, leading to chaos at the gates. Apart from the eleven fatalities, more than fifty people sustained injuries in the incident.

This compensation package marks an increase from the initial ₹10 lakh announced by RCB in June 2025. The Karnataka government also provided compensation to the families of the deceased.

The RCB Cares program is intended to continue beyond this immediate financial aid to include ongoing support and engagement with fans. Operational changes and enhanced safety protocols at cricket venues in Karnataka have been implemented following the tragedy.

The incident led the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift Bengaluru’s hosting rights for the Women's ODI World Cup to Mumbai. Additionally, the Karnataka State Cricket Association moved the Maharaja T20 Trophy to Mysuru after the Chinnaswamy Stadium was denied clearance for hosting large events.
