The Pakistan cricket team suffered a shocking Test series defeat against Bangladesh, leading to widespread criticism from fans and experts alike. Pakistan's underwhelming performance in both matches has been largely attributed to their bowlers, who faced severe scrutiny.
The losses have nearly eliminated Pakistan from contention for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Former fast bowler Yasir Arafat has launched a vehement critique of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its officials. Arafat expressed frustration over the PCB’s focus on organising the Champions Cup—an ODI tournament—rather than preparing for upcoming Test matches against England.
In a critical YouTube video, Arafat stated, "As this series concludes, it has exposed the team's issues—fitness, technique, and pitch conditions. I’ve heard that Jason Gillespie and the high-performance coach are returning to Australia while the PCB focuses on organising an ODI tournament. I can’t make sense of these decisions. The PCB feels like a circus."
He further remarked, "With a Test series against England on the horizon, it’s baffling that the focus is on ODIs. Shan Masood has pointed out in a press conference that our players haven't played first-class cricket in 1.5 years. To me, this is a circus. The decisions being made are ridiculous, and those making them seem to be jesters."
Due to ongoing renovations at Karachi National Stadium, the second Test of the series was relocated to Rawalpindi. With the stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi undergoing renovations for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan might need to consider alternative venues such as Sri Lanka or the UAE for their Test series against England, as reported by Geo News.
