Jaipur: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by nine wickets in Match 28 of the TATA IPL 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Chasing 174, RCB rode on Phil Salt’s explosive 65 off 33 and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 62 off 45 to finish the game in just 17.3 overs.

RCB, donning their green jersey as part of their environmental sustainability initiative, were dominant from the outset. Rajat Patidar, leading the side, opted to bowl first after winning the toss. RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson made a steady start, guiding their team to 45/0 in the powerplay. However, Krunal Pandya struck immediately after the fielding restrictions, removing Samson with a well-flighted delivery.

Jaiswal anchored the innings with a fluent 75 off 47, his second fifty of the season, before being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. Contributions from Riyan Parag (30) and Dhruv Jurel (35*) helped RR post a competitive 173/4 in their 20 overs.

In response, RCB's openers launched a counterattack. Phil Salt survived some early chances but punished the bowlers with power hitting, particularly on the leg side. He reached his half-century in just 28 balls before falling for 65 in the ninth over. With 101/1 on the board at the halfway mark, RCB were in full control.

Kohli, initially playing the anchor, accelerated as the chase progressed. He brought up his fifty with a six — marking his 100th T20 half-century, making him the first Indian and second overall (after David Warner) to reach the milestone. Kohli’s composed 62* and Devdutt Padikkal’s 40* (28) sealed RCB’s win with 15 balls to spare.

The result handed RCB their fourth win of the season — all away from home — while RR suffered their first loss at home this year.
