
Dubai: New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra was crowned ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday following his exceptional performances throughout the competition.
The 25-year-old batter amassed 263 runs across four innings, maintaining an impressive average of 68.75 with a strike rate exceeding 106. His standout performance came against Bangladesh, where he smashed 112 runs.
Following the final, Ravindra reflected on the tournament, calling it a "bitter-sweet" experience and congratulating India for their victory.
He credited his success to years of dedication and hard work, emphasising that while playing on good wickets contributed to his performance, it was the effort he put in over the years that truly made the difference. He expressed pride in his journey and gratitude towards those who supported him.
During the tournament, Ravindra also set a record for scoring the most centuries by a New Zealand player in ICC events, reaching four hundreds.
In his 32-match ODI career, he has accumulated 1,196 runs, with a career-best score of 123* to his name.
