Hyderabad: Star batter Virat Kohli produced a vintage knock, scoring a superb 91-ball 93, as India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the first ODI of the three-match India vs New Zealand series on Sunday. With the victory, India took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Chasing 301 for victory, India reached 306/6 in 49 overs, sealing the India vs New Zealand 1st ODI result with six balls to spare.

Kohli was at his best, striking eight fours and one six during his innings. He fell agonisingly short of a 48th ODI hundred but ensured India stayed ahead in the chase.
Captain Shubman Gill gave India a solid start with a well-made 56, while Shreyas Iyer added a valuable 49, keeping the required run rate in control.
For New Zealand, Kyle Jamieson was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 4/41 in 10 overs. Adithya Ashok and Kristian Clarke claimed a wicket each.
Earlier, New Zealand posted 300/8 in 50 overs after being put into bat. Pacers Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj bowled probing spells early on before Daryl Mitchell launched a counterattack with a superb 84.
Devon Conway (56) and Henry Nicholls (62) also hit half-centuries to steady the Black Caps’ innings.
For India, Harshit Rana (2/65), Mohammed Siraj (2/40) and Prasidh Krishna (2/60) picked up two wickets each, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed one.
