India’s T20 World Cup 2026 triumph has led to a strong ICC ranking boost, with Abhishek Sharma retaining the No.1 spot and Sanju Samson climbing sharply in the T20I batting charts.

India’s dominant campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has resulted in a major ICC ranking boost for several of the team’s white-ball stars.
Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, India defeated New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday to clinch their second consecutive title and become the first team to win three men’s T20 World Cup trophies.
The latest ICC ranking update, released on Wednesday by the International Cricket Council, reflects the strong performances of India’s batters throughout the tournament.
India now hold the top two spots in the ICC ranking for T20I batters. Abhishek Sharma retained his No.1 position after smashing a quickfire half-century in the World Cup final, while Ishan Kishan climbed two places to second after scoring 317 runs during the tournament.
Kishan also achieved a career-best rating, trailing Abhishek by just four points in the latest ICC ranking list.
Among other notable movements, Tim Seifert of New Zealand jumped four places to sixth, while England’s Jacob Bethell surged 17 spots to 16th after impressive performances during the World Cup.
New Zealand opener Finn Allen also climbed seven places to 20th after setting the record for the fastest century in a men’s T20 World Cup with a blistering 33-ball hundred against the South Africa national cricket team in the semi-finals.
Among Indian players, Sanju Samson jumped 18 places to 22nd in the ICC ranking, while Shivam Dube rose four positions to 27th following their solid contributions with the bat.
In the ICC ranking for T20I bowlers, there was a change at the top. Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan replaced India’s Varun Chakravarthy as the No.1 bowler.
Chakravarthy slipped to second place, while England spinner Adil Rashid moved up to fourth. India pacer Jasprit Bumrah climbed one spot to sixth, and all-rounder Axar Patel jumped six positions to 17th in the latest ICC ranking.
The ICC ranking race among T20I all-rounders also remains tight. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza retained the No.1 spot with a new career-high rating, while India’s Hardik Pandya stayed second with his own career-best points.
Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner climbed three places to ninth in the ICC ranking for all-rounders, and England’s Will Jacks rose five spots to 13th after an impressive World Cup campaign.
