Darwin: South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch was sanctioned for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20 International against Australia at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin. Bosch violated Article 2.5 of the Code, which prohibits language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.

The incident occurred in the 17th over of Australia's innings when Bosch, after dismissing Ben Dwarshuis, made a send-off gesture toward the player's dugout that could have provoked an aggressive response. For this offence, Bosch received one demerit point on his disciplinary record. He accepted the sanction proposed by ICC Match Officials, thus avoiding a formal hearing.

The match was significant for South Africa, as they came into it trailing 1-0 in the series and needed a win to force a decider. After a shaky start, South Africa’s innings was propelled by a stunning knock from 22-year-old Dewald Brevis, who scored an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls. Brevis’s century came in just 41 balls, making him South Africa's youngest Men's T20I centurion and the second-fastest to reach a T20I hundred for the country. South Africa posted a total of 218/7.

In response, Australia’s Tim David scored a 24-ball fifty to keep the hosts in contention. However, Bosch and Kwena Maphaka each took three wickets, bowling Australia out for 165 and securing a 53-run victory for South Africa.

The series will now be decided in the third and final T20I scheduled for Cairns on Saturday, August 16. The teams will then move on to the ODI series starting August 19.
