Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has opened up about his relationship with ex-India opener Gautam Gambhir, stating that despite their heated confrontations on the field, they share a strong bond. In a recent interview with CricBlog, Akmal said, "Even with Gautam Gambhir, I mean me and Gautam are good friends. I share a good relationship with him. He's like my brother. In fact, I'd like to congratulate Gautam on winning his first Test as a coach; so happy for him."

Akmal also expressed admiration for legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni, highlighting his unique mentality and match-winning abilities. "No doubt MS Dhoni is someone with a different mentality altogether, an absolute match-winner and he's super calm. The way he played was fantastic, and he had a fantastic career," he said.

He noted that players continue to seek Dhoni's advice during tours, emphasising his status as a senior figure in the game. "Even today, when any player meets Dhoni internationally, they seek advice, ask him doubts, and learn from him. He’s a legend and India's greatest captain," Akmal added.

In the conversation, the former cricketer also revealed that Yuvraj Singh is one of his favourite middle-order batters of all time.

He concluded by mentioning his interactions with other Indian cricketers, saying, "I talk to a lot of Indian players... it feels nice." (With inputs from Agencies)
