After the big buys on Sunday, the IPL mega auction will continue on Monday, with an additional 32 players to be presented before the process shifts to an accelerated format.
BCCI has repotedly informed all franchises that following the presentation of Player No. 116, the auction would transition into its accelerated phase. This is for streamlining the remaining bidding process.
What is accelerated auction?
Ahead of the auction, BCCI outlined the process to assist franchises in their preparations. The accelerated auction process is expected to begin after Player No. 116, and will then include all players numbered 117 through 574 (with the possibility of extending up to Player No. 577).
In order to streamline the process, franchises were instructed to submit their list of nominated players from this group by 10 p.m. on November 24. Post nominations, the auctioneer will present them for bidding.
After the first round, in which the nominated players are auctioned, franchises will have the opportunity to select additional players from the remaining unsold and unpresented pool. This will kick off the second phase of the accelerated process.
Each franchise is permitted to secure a maximum of 25 players for their squad during the two-day mega auction. (With inputs from Agencies)
