Lucknow: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South African all-rounder Dian Forrester to replace the injured Jamie Overton for the duration of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, the franchise confirmed Thursday.

Overton, a right-arm fast bowler from England, has been sidelined by a right thigh injury. He is scheduled to return to the United Kingdom for medical evaluation and recovery. His absence marks a significant blow to the defending champions; Overton exits the tournament as the team’s second-most prolific bowler this season, having claimed 14 wickets at an average of 17.78 and an economy rate of 8.89.

The pacer’s final appearance for the five-time champions was a standout performance. He earned Player of the Match honours after recording figures of 3-36 in a five-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants at Chepauk on May 11.

Forrester joins the Chennai squad for a fee of Rs 75 lakh. The 24-year-old made his international debut for South Africa in March 2026 against New Zealand and has played five international matches, accumulating 83 runs.

Statistical Profile

Forrester arrives with a robust domestic pedigree. His first-class record includes more than 1,000 runs with an average exceeding 45, while his List A average stands above 50. In the T20 format, he has tallied 681 runs while maintaining a strike rate above 140.

The transaction was formally announced via the club's official social media channels.

Roster Adjustments

This is the second personnel change the Super Kings have facilitated this week. On Wednesday, the franchise named Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh.

Ghosh was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after sustaining a right foot injury during his lone appearance of the season against the Mumbai Indians on May 2. Noronha, who joins the team for Rs 30 lakh, was recently recognised as the top run-scorer of the 2024/25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy, where he amassed 1,037 runs at an average of 79.77.

The Super Kings are scheduled to face the Lucknow Super Giants again on May 15, this time in an away fixture in Lucknow.
