Mumbai: Cheteshwar Pujara, one of India’s most dependable and respected Test cricketers, announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket on August 24, 2025.

Pujara broke the news with an emotional post on X, expressing the pride and honour he felt wearing the Indian jersey and representing the country. “Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the anthem, and trying my best each time I stepped on the field – it’s impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket. Thank you for all the love and support!” he wrote.

The 37-year-old batsman played 103 Test matches for India since his debut in 2010, most notably serving as the team’s reliable No. 3 batter. He scored 7,195 runs at an average of 43.60, including 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries. Known for his patient and technically sound batting, Pujara played an instrumental role in several historic series wins, particularly in challenging overseas conditions like Australia and England.

Pujara’s last Test match was the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval.
