The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will celebrate the illustrious careers of Rahul Dravid and Mithali Raj at its annual Naman Awards. Dravid, widely regarded as one of India’s greatest Test batters, will receive the prestigious Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award on March 15 in Delhi. Over his 16-year international career, Dravid played 509 matches across formats, scoring over 13,000 runs in Tests and nearly 11,000 in ODIs.

After retiring in 2012, Dravid transitioned into coaching, guiding India’s Under-19 team to the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup title and mentoring India A. He became the head coach of the senior men’s team, leading India to the 2023 World Cup final and the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup win. Fellow cricketer and current India coach Gautam Gambhir dedicated the T20 World Cup triumph to Dravid, praising his influence on the team’s growth.

Alongside Dravid, former India women’s team captain Mithali Raj will also receive a lifetime honour for her contribution to Indian cricket. Shubman Gill is among the frontrunners for the Cricketer of the Year award, while the Mumbai Cricket Association will be recognised as the best cricket association in domestic cricket.

Rahul Dravid, part of India’s famed ‘Big Four’ batting lineup with Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman, has left a legacy of discipline, consistency, and mentorship. His 36 Test centuries and 12 ODI hundreds reflect his technical brilliance. Post-retirement, he took on crucial coaching roles, fostering young talent and strengthening India’s cricket pipeline.

Mithali Raj, the former India women’s captain, is celebrated for her records in international cricket, including being the highest run-scorer in women’s ODIs and captaining India to multiple ICC tournament finals. Both legends exemplify commitment, excellence, and influence, and the BCCI’s lifetime honours recognise their enduring impact on Indian cricket.

The awards ceremony in Delhi will be a star-studded event, highlighting India’s cricketing heritage and inspiring the next generation of players.
