A light-hearted moment involving actor Basil Joseph predicting a six from Sanju Samson has gone viral on social media following India’s emphatic win over New Zealand in the ICC T20 World Cup final.

The video, filmed at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, captures Basil confidently telling the camera “Six… six,” moments before Samson launches the ball into the stands. The crowd erupts as the prediction comes true, while Basil remains calm, earning playful admiration from friends who salute him as the “King of Predictions”.

Basil had travelled to the stadium with friends, including Xylem Group CEO Dr Ananthu and Instagram viral star Nihal (aka Nihalkka), to witness what turned out to be one of the finest performances of Samson’s career. In the clip, Nihal can be seen holding his head in disbelief before saluting Basil in celebration.

Earlier in the day, the trio had shared another video of themselves searching for and buying Samson jerseys outside the stadium, chanting “Jai Sanju Samson” as they made their way to the match.

India went on to defeat New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. Samson played a decisive role, scoring 89 runs and helping steer India towards victory. He was later named Player of the Tournament.

The 35-year-old Kerala native had been brought into the starting line-up midway through the tournament after a series of low scores from top-order batter Abhishek Sharma. The move proved crucial, with Samson registering half-centuries in three consecutive high-pressure matches and guiding India from the brink of elimination to the title.
