Abu Dhabi: Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib produced a memorable moment in Asia Cup 2025 against Hong Kong at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, when he bowled an unplayable yorker to dismiss right-hander Babar Hayat.

Earlier in the over, Hayat had struck Sakib for a six, but the next delivery left the batter stunned as the ball swung away late, crashing into the stumps. Sakib celebrated passionately as Hayat walked back in disbelief.

The 22-year-old’s brilliant showing highlights his growing reputation as a fast bowler for the Bangladesh cricket team.

Bangladesh skipper Litton Das had elected to field first after winning the toss. The Hong Kong innings began poorly, with opener Anshuman Rath dismissed for just 4 by Taskin Ahmed in the second over. Babar Hayat (14) was then sent back by Sakib, followed by Zeeshan Ali (30) also falling to the pacer. Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rehman contributed to key wickets, restricting Hong Kong to 143/7 in 20 overs.

Sakib finished with figures of 2/21 in four overs, while Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain also claimed two wickets each. For Hong Kong, Ateeq Iqbal was the standout bowler with 2/14.

Chasing 144, Bangladesh overcame an early wobble as Litton Das scored a captain’s knock of 59 off 39 balls, supported by Towhid Hridoy’s unbeaten 35 off 36 balls. The pair stitched a crucial 95-run partnership, guiding Bangladesh to a comfortable seven-wicket victory in 17.4 overs and opening their account in the tournament.
