Samvritha Sunil is one of the favourite actresses of the Malayalam film audience. The diva who is settled in the US with her family opened up about Onam celebrations during a conversation with Mathrubhumi.com.

The ‘Rasikan’ actress stated that she still cherishes her childhood memories of Onam celebrations.

“ I had the best Onam during my childhood days. When I started acting in movies, I was very busy with the release of movies, TV interviews, programmes and so on. The Onam vibe starts with Chingam 1. But I used to try maximum to celebrate Onam at home,” said Samvritha.

The actress also shared about Onam celebrations in the US.

“ After settling in the US, I don’t plan anything special. Sadya is our only focus. We can’t order sadya here. So, we prepare sadya with our friends at their residence or our house and celebrate Onam,” Samvritha described.

“ I have a very small family including my husband Akhil and our two sons Agasthya and Rudra. Akhi’s parents, brother and sister are settled in different places. So, we don’t get a chance to celebrate Onam with relatives here,” she added.

Talking about her children’s excitement about Onam, Samvritha narrated the funny incidents while making ‘Pookkalam’.

“ Last year, when I was making Pookkalam, my younger son Rudra took a handful of flowers from it and ram away. Agasthya knows about Onam, related stories and customs like the making of Pookkalam. He is excited to wear ‘Onakkodi'. For me, Onam is all about celebration with my family,” Samvritha explained.
