Thrissur: Rifts emerged in the Congress camps in the district, post K Muraleedharan’s humiliating defeat in the Thrissur parliamentary constituency. The party is apparently gearing up for a major rejig.

Muraleedharan himself was the first person to blame his fellow party members following the drubbing he received in the LS polls. Now, the Youth Congress members have also raised their concerns.

They have publicly criticised DCC president Jose Valloor and KPCC working president T N Prathapan for allegedly paving the way for the Right wing fascist forces in the district.

Revelations by ex-party member and Muraleedharan’s sister Padmaja Venugopal added fuel to the fire.

KPCC president K Sudhakaran has apparently demanded an explanation from the party members. Jose Valloor is known to have owned the responsibility for the defeat. Action will be initiated after consulting Muraleedharan, who is currently away from the public eye.

Infights in the party is not a new thing, there have been problems for a long time.

There has been a considerable dent in the Congress vote base in the district due to mindless actions of the party leaders. Tactics deployed in the recent LS polls proved ineffective. The party leadership failed to cash in on the unexpected candidature of Muraleedharan, they failed to create a wave in their favour.

Muraleedharan has criticised his party members by taking names in the post poll party review meeting.

“My brother was let down by the same set of people who eventually made me leave the party,” said Padamaja leaving room for a lot of speculation.

Leaders including T N Prathapan and MP Vincent are under radar at the moment.
