Alathur: The lone victory of K Radhakrishnan in Alathur has brought some relief to the LDF camp, which was once again devastated by a pro-UDF wave in the Lok Sabha scene of Kerala.
The charisma of candidate K Radhakrishnan and the miscalculation in campaign strategies by UDF contributed to the victory of LDF. Radhakrishnan emerged victorious with 4,08,447 votes in a constituency where UDF’s Ramya won in 2019 with 20,111 votes. Ramya was able to garner 3,88,336 votes this time.
It's noteworthy that during the campaign, UDF had the upper hand over LDF. Ramya received a tremendous reception in public ceremonies, and her songs attracted crowds. This, coupled with a favourable national scenario, gave UDF the impression that victory would be a cakewalk. However, Radhakrishnan’s charisma and LDF’s robust electioneering overturned these factors.
Meanwhile, BJP’s TN Sarasu secured 18.97% of the votes, marking a significant increase in the party's vote share by almost a lakh compared to the last election.
