Kozhikode: In a surprising move, Actor Kamal Haasan has campaigned for K K Shailaja, the LDF candidate from Vadakara. He addressed the voters through a video message and praised the CPM leader for her exemplary performance during her tenure as Health Minister. 

“There's a lot of difference between the elections that have been held till date and the ones that are about to happen. My beloved sister, K K Shailaja, contesting from Vadakara as the LDF candidate, is one of the important leaders in this fight for the country," said the president of the Makkal Needhi Maiam party.

“She is a leader who has proved her strength and leadership skills during a time when the whole world remained powerless. When the state was affected by the Nipah virus in 2018, the then state health minister, K. K. Shailaja, camped in Kozhikode and worked exemplary by obtaining medications and services from various parts of the world.” 

“The actions and decisions taken by the health minister made Kerala a model for the country during COVID-19. She has received awards from the World Health Organization and the Central European University for her excellent service during COVID-19. She was invited as a special representative to a conference held by the United Nations. K.K. Shailaja has won the hearts of the world through her thoughts and actions," the actor said. 

“States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu face severe challenges from the centre. To raise a voice against the system, both inside and outside, we need a strong leader like K. K.
