Kozhikode: Life has not been easy for Bindukumari, a makeup artist from Thiruvananthapuram, for the past few years. The advent of the pandemic has been hard on her as she had to struggle with her job like many others.
However, with the Kerala School Kalolsavam making a comeback this year, Bindukumari feels delighted to have resumed her job. After a hiatus, she did makeup for her daughter’s dance student Adithyan, who studies at Government V and HSS in Aryanad, Thiruvananthapuram.
“The last two years have been really difficult as I was left without a job. Covid had hit us really hard. However, things are getting better now,” said Bindhu.
Bindukumari’s daughter Swathisree Nandana Vishnu has been Adithyan’s dance master for the past 11 years. She is currently running a dance academy, namely Sivanandana School of Dance in her hometown, offering classes to around 50 students.

“My daughter could not attend the festival here as she had to take care of her baby. Still, she is proud that her student got the opportunity to perform Kuchippudi at the state level,” said Bindukumari.
Meanwhile, Adithyan is very happy to have given a good performance at the stage. He stepped into the world of dance by the time he joined kindergarten.
“It’s my first time dancing at the state festival. I was a little bit nervous ahead of the performance. Yet, I think I have done well and hope to receive good grades,” he said.
