Dortmund: Cristiano Ronaldo had no goals, one assist and four selfie-taking pitch invasions in Portugal's 3-0 victory against Turkey on Saturday, securing a berth in the European Championship round of 16.

Ronaldo was the centre of attention as usual at the Westfalenstadion, but not in the way he would have imagined.

The five-time World Player of the Year set up Bruno Fernandes' third goal with an unselfish pass when he could have easily taken a shot after being passed through.

Then there was commotion as three supporters appeared on the pitch at separate points during the second half and attempted selfies with Ronaldo. He accepted the first but appeared upset with the other two.

Another phone-waving admirer in a Portugal jersey approached Ronaldo shortly after the final whistle, and security had to stop another individual from confronting one of the world's most renowned athletes as he went off the pitch with his teammates.

Ronaldo may be more disappointed with his failure to score against a Turkey team that was sometimes his own worst adversary.

Not least in the 28th minute, when, trailing 1-0 to Bernardo Silva's strike seven minutes earlier, Turkey centre-back Samet Akaydin delivered a back-pass that rolled to the side of his goalkeeper and straight into the net.

Portugal backed up its opening 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic and has qualified with a match to spare from Group F. AP
