Miami: James Rodriguez of Colombia was named the best player of the CONMEBOL Copa America 2024, while Argentina's Emiliano Martinez was honoured as the tournament's top goalkeeper.

Argentina secured their record 16th Copa America title with a 1-0 victory over Colombia in the final on Sunday, surpassing Uruguay's previous record of 15 titles.

Despite Colombia's defeat in the final, Rodriguez had an outstanding tournament, setting a record with six assists. His sixth assist came in Colombia's 1-0 semi-final win over Uruguay, delivering a precise cross for Jefferson Lerma's goal.

Rodriguez, 32, surpassed Lionel Messi's previous record of five assists in a single Copa America campaign, achieved during Argentina's 2021 title-winning run. He started his campaign with two assists against Paraguay and continued with one each against Costa Rica and two more in the quarterfinal against Panama.

Emiliano Martinez, who maintained five clean sheets, was recognized as the best goalkeeper of Copa America 2024. His performances were crucial in Argentina's title triumph, culminating in a clean sheet in the final against Colombia.

Lautaro Martinez, his teammate, emerged as the tournament's top scorer with five goals, including the decisive goal in extra time of the final against Colombia. After a goalless 90 minutes, Martinez found the net in the 112th minute following a setup by Giovani Lo Celso.

Angel Di Maria, who played his final match for Argentina, capped off his career with an impressive performance and was named Player of the Match in the final. ANI
