Twin Falls, Idaho: Social media users have identified a man named Jordan Salinas as the armed bystander who exchanged gunfire with the suspect during the deadly shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho. However, authorities have not officially confirmed his identity, and we could not independently verify the claims circulating online.

The shooting unfolded on Saturday when 24-year-old Chad Williams allegedly opened fire with a rifle at the drive-thru of the newly opened restaurant, killing three people and injuring several others before fleeing. Williams was later found dead from what police said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At a press conference on Sunday, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and an armed citizen returned fire, helping prevent further bloodshed.

“We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties,” Hicks said.

He added, “We want to take a moment and commend the actions of the off-duty officer and the citizen, and their heroic action to stop this incident.”

Police have not disclosed the identity of the armed citizen, nor have they confirmed whether the individual widely identified online as Jordan Salinas was involved in the incident.

According to the Associated Press, witness Lane Koehn, 34, said he saw a man armed with a pistol begin firing at the rifle-wielding suspect after Williams emerged from the drive-thru area. Koehn said the man remained at the scene afterwards, helping an injured In-N-Out employee until paramedics arrived.

Since the shooting, users on X and Facebook have widely shared posts identifying the armed citizen as Jordan Salinas, calling him a "hero" for confronting the gunman. One widely shared post stated:

“This is the hero that confronted the In-N-Out gunman in Idaho. Meet Jordan Salinas.”

The identity claim appears to be based largely on social media posts and videos. Neither Twin Falls police nor other law enforcement agencies have officially identified Salinas as the armed bystander, and we could not independently verify the claim.

Social media users have also resurfaced what they say is Salinas' online presence, which reportedly includes firearms training content. A Facebook post from 2024, attributed to him, described a shooting drill and encouraged followers to practice regularly, stating:

“Train like your life depends on it. Because God forbid, one day it might. Stay free, stay safe and stay frosty.”

Authorities have not confirmed whether the account belongs to the individual involved in Saturday's shooting or whether the armed citizen had any formal firearms training.

Police said investigators are confident Williams acted alone. In total, four people, including the gunman, died in the attack, while seven others were injured. As of Sunday, two injured victims had been treated and released from hospital, three remained in stable condition and two were listed in critical condition.
