During a press conference on Monday morning local time, New South Wales police commissioner Mal Lanyon said the two males, aged 50 and 24, had been identified as the only shooters involved in the attack.

Speaking to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, law enforcement sources named the younger man as 24-year-old Naveed Akram and his father as 50-year-old Sajid Akram.

Who is Naveed Akram?

According to information shared with ABC News, Naveed Akram, aged 24, was apprehended at the scene of the shooting and taken to hospital.

Who is Sajid Akram?

ABC News reported that the second gunman was Naveed’s father, 50-year-old Sajid Akram, who owned a fruit shop.
