Washington: President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that US forces had destroyed another small boat off the coast of Venezuela, alleging it was carrying drugs.

In a social media post, Trump said six people aboard the vessel were killed and confirmed that no US personnel were injured. This marks the fifth lethal strike in the Caribbean under his administration’s policy of treating suspected drug traffickers as unlawful combatants subject to military action.

The campaign has sparked growing bipartisan concern in Congress. While some Republicans are pressing the White House for more information on the legal basis and operational details of these strikes, Democrats argue they violate US and international law.
