A New York City subway station is drawing sharp criticism online after an Indian vlogger posted a video highlighting the deteriorating conditions of one of the world's busiest transit systems.
The video, shared on Instagram by Nitish Advitiy, has since gone viral, prompting widespread backlash against city authorities and calls for better maintenance.
In the clip, Advitiy walks through a subway station, filming scenes of urine-stained walls, litter-strewn floors, and a general state of disrepair. The footage includes an on-screen caption declaring: “New York subway dirtiest subway.”
Accompanying the video, the vlogger wrote, “The New York City subway’s reputation for being dirty stems from a combination of factors, including heavy usage, ageing infrastructure, insufficient cleaning protocols, and a lack of consistent maintenance. The sheer volume of daily commuters makes it difficult to keep stations spotless, and outdated systems and a lack of investment in upkeep exacerbate the problem.”
The video has sparked debate on social media, with many users echoing the vlogger’s concerns and demanding accountability from transit officials.
