Schools across the UAE will observe a five-day official holiday from Monday, May 25 to Friday, May 29. When combined with the weekend before and after, the break extends into a total of nine days away from classrooms.
The holiday applies to both public and private schools, as well as teaching and administrative staff, ensuring uniformity across the education system.
Return to school and academic schedule
Students will return to classrooms on Monday, June 1, marking the continuation of the third and final term of the academic year. The period after the break is considered crucial, as it leads into final assessments.
Exam timeline and key academic dates
The Ministry has also outlined important academic milestones for the remainder of the term:
- Mock examinations: June 15–16
- Islamic New Year holiday: June 17
- Final examinations: June 24 to July 3
These assessments will determine student performance for the academic year, with schools focusing on revision and preparation after the Eid break.
Purpose of the extended holiday
UAE officials said the break aligns with Eid Al Adha celebrations, one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar. The schedule is designed to allow families time to travel and celebrate, while maintaining a structured academic timeline.
The ministry also confirmed that the academic calendar has been planned to ensure smooth progression from holidays to examinations without disrupting the overall school year.
The announcement is part of the broader 2025–26 academic schedule, which includes clearly defined holidays, exam periods, and results timelines to help schools and families plan in advance.
The structured calendar aims to balance academic demands with rest periods, ensuring students remain prepared for end-of-year evaluations.
