New York: Two Indian students from Cleveland State University lost their lives in a tragic car accident in Pennsylvania early on Saturday morning, officials confirmed.
The victims have been identified as Manav Patel (20) and Saurav Prabhakar (23). Their vehicle reportedly crashed into a tree before hitting a bridge. A third passenger, seated in the front, was injured in the collision and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
The Consulate General of India in New York expressed grief over the incident and stated that it is in close contact with the victims' families to provide all necessary support.
“Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate road accident in which two Indian students from Cleveland State University, Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar, lost their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this difficult time,” the Consulate posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
Further details about the cause of the crash or the condition of the injured passenger have not yet been released by local authorities. The incident highlights ongoing concerns around student safety in the United States, particularly involving international students.
