Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has once again directed sharp criticism at global music star Taylor Swift, suggesting in a recent social media post that her popularity has waned since he publicly expressed his disdain for her during the 2024 presidential election campaign.

Taking to his platform Truth Social on Friday, Trump posted: “Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she's no longer 'HOT?'”

The comments come during Trump’s ongoing visit to the Middle East and mark the latest in a string of personal attacks he has made against Swift, who had endorsed then Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.

Swift’s vocal support for the Democratic ticket became a flashpoint during the campaign. Trump, who initially dismissed her endorsement as insignificant, escalated his rhetoric with a post declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”—a quote widely reported at the time.

The former president has also criticised other high-profile entertainers who backed Harris, including rock icon Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen, currently touring in Europe, recently described Trump’s presidency as having "authoritarian tendencies", according to entertainment outlet Deadline.

In recent months, Trump has repeatedly brought up Swift, including claiming she was booed at the Super Bowl, which both attended. He again referenced the singer last month at a White House event honouring the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.
