Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has broken her silence on the sexual assault allegations against her half brother

Princess Ingrid Alexandra, the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has addressed the sexual assault allegations against her half brother, Marius Borg Hoiby. The 21-year-old future queen of Norway spoke to Norwegian news outlet NRK on November 2, sharing the emotional toll the case has had on her family.
Earlier this year, Hoiby, 28, was charged with 32 crimes, including four rapes, domestic violence, and assault. The charges involve multiple victims, including an ex-girlfriend. Hoiby admitted to acts of violence in one instance but has denied other allegations, according to his lawyers.

Ingrid Alexandra began her studies at the University of Sydney, Australia, in the same month the state attorney general filed charges against her half brother. She acknowledged the difficulty of the situation for the family, saying: “Of course it's difficult. Both for those of us who are around, for me as a sister and for mum and dad. And of course for everyone affected by the case.” When asked about being away from home during this time, she declined to elaborate further.
Marius Borg Hoiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship, was arrested on August 4, 2024, after being suspected of assaulting a woman. The formal charges were filed on August 18, 2025, and include four counts of rape along with 28 other offences involving acts of violence. Hoiby’s actions have brought public attention and scrutiny to Norway’s royal family, creating both legal and reputational challenges.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s public remarks mark the first time she has commented on the case. She emphasised the impact on her immediate family and those affected by the allegations, highlighting the emotional strain without providing further personal details. Her statements underscore the balance she must maintain as a member of the royal family while dealing with a sensitive family crisis.
