US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his claim that Washington has taken control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, declaring that the United States intends to ‘keep it' as tensions with Iran continue to intensify.

In a fresh post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said the US had 'total control' over the waterway and portrayed the American naval blockade as a formidable show of military strength.

He said the operation was being described as a 'wall of steel' and insisted that Iran had no means of challenging it. ‘The USA has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. I think we will keep it!’ Trump wrote.

The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial maritime route for the movement of energy and other commodities through the Middle East.

Trump's repeated assertions that the US controls the waterway have been fiercely rejected by Iran, which does not accept Washington's claim.

The confrontation has also taken a new turn with Iran intending to impose a toll system in response to the war launched by Trump on February 28.

Trump, however, struck an increasingly defiant tone in his latest message, dismissing Iran's military capabilities and portraying its forces as severely weakened. He claimed that Iran has no Navy or Air Force and alleged that its soldiers are not being paid.

The US President also targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, saying the powerful Iranian military organisation had been ‘decimated and fleeing’.

Trump's remarks come amid an intensifying standoff over the strategic waterway, with the US administration continuing to project its naval presence as a decisive factor in the confrontation.

He further asserted that Iran had lost its position as the ‘bully’ of the Middle East, adding a religiously worded conclusion to his post: ‘Praise be to Allah!’

Trump's latest comments mark another forceful assertion of American dominance over the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran continues to reject the US claim and signal its own response to Washington's actions.
