The US Defence Department has released a second batch of declassified UFO-related files, revealing decades-old reports of mysterious green orbs, flying discs and unexplained aerial sightings near military facilities.

The United States Department of Defense on May 22 released 222 additional declassified files linked to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), commonly referred to as UFOs, as part of a transparency initiative ordered by Donald Trump.
The newly released documents include photographs, witness reports, investigation records and historical correspondence describing unexplained aerial sightings across the United States over several decades.

What the newly released UFO files contain
One of the most significant documents in the latest release is a 116-page file connected to reported sightings and investigations at a highly classified military facility in Sandia, New Mexico, between 1948 and 1950.
According to the Defence Department, the file documents 209 separate sightings of unusual aerial objects near the installation during that period. Witnesses reportedly described seeing glowing green orbs, disc-shaped objects and bright fireballs moving across the sky under unexplained circumstances.
The records also include statements from witnesses, summaries prepared by investigators and internal communications between federal agencies reviewing unidentified aerial encounters.
Pentagon says no proof of alien life found
Despite renewed public attention, Pentagon officials said the files do not provide conclusive evidence of extraterrestrial life or alien spacecraft.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said public curiosity surrounding UFO reports had existed for decades and justified making the records accessible.
Officials stated that while many sightings remain unexplained, the released files do not change the government’s current scientific assessment regarding alien life.
Trump administration’s transparency initiative
The latest publication is part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters, known as PURSUE. Under the programme, federal agencies are reviewing historical UFO-related records and declassifying documents that can be safely released without harming national security interests.
According to Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, additional files are already under review and more releases are expected in the coming months.
The first batch of declassified UFO records was released on May 8 after orders from President Trump, who encouraged the public to examine the files and draw their own conclusions.
Public interest surges after UFO archive launch
The Pentagon said the government’s newly launched online UFO archive has received more than one billion visits globally since going live earlier this month.
Researchers who reviewed the first batch of files said the documents included new footage and records connected to previously reported sightings. However, experts noted that no evidence has emerged confirming extraterrestrial technology or alien involvement.
The latest release continues a decades-long US government disclosure effort that began in the late 1970s, when officials first started declassifying records linked to unidentified flying objects and aerial investigations.
