Copenhagen: Danish authorities reported new sightings of unidentified drones over Karup, Denmark’s biggest military base, late Friday night. This marks the latest episode in a series of drone incursions that have raised alarms across the country.

Simon Skelsjaer, a police duty officer, confirmed the incident, saying, “I can confirm that we had an incident around 8:15 pm (1815 GMT Friday) that lasted for some hours. One to two drones were observed outside and over the airbase.”

Skelsjaer added that police have yet to determine the origin of the drones and emphasized, “We didn’t take them down.” Investigations are ongoing, with police collaborating closely with the military.

The Karup base, which shares its runways with Midtjylland civilian airport, experienced a brief closure. However, no commercial flights were affected as none were scheduled during the time of the drone sighting.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen earlier described the incidents, stating, “Over recent days, Denmark has been the victim of hybrid attacks,” highlighting the unconventional nature of these threats.
