A commercial tanker was reportedly struck by a missile near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, raising fresh concerns over the security of one of the world's most critical shipping routes amid heightened regional tensions.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the vessel was hit about 13 nautical miles southeast of Limah, Oman, while transiting the southern outbound shipping lane.
The reported strike comes as tensions between Iran and the United States remain high, with renewed concerns over the safety of commercial vessels navigating the strategically important waterway through which a significant share of the world's oil exports passes.
Reacting to the incident, the Israeli War Room account on X claimed the attack reflected continuing threats to international shipping in the region and accused Iran and its allied groups of undermining maritime security. No official authority has attributed responsibility for the missile strike.
