London: Britain’s King Charles III has issued a formal statement following the arrest of his younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, by British police in connection with alleged links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
In a message released shortly after the development, the monarch said he had learned “with the deepest concern” of the news and stressed that the matter would now be handled through due legal process.
“ What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities, ” the King said. “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
He added: “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”
The King also made clear that he would not comment further while the investigation is ongoing. “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all,” the statement read.
