Pop sensation Katy Perry described her recent journey to space aboard Blue Origin’s all-female mission as an emotional and transformative experience, saying the overwhelming feeling she carried back to Earth was "love."
“It is the highest high,” Perry said after safely returning to Earth. “And it is surrender to the unknown, trust... I couldn’t recommend this experience more.”
The singer was one of six women aboard Jeff Bezos’ New Shepard rocket, which included Bezos' fiancée Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, and other accomplished women in science, media, and advocacy.
When asked whether the awe-inspiring trip might inspire new music, Perry didn’t hesitate. “Oh, for sure, 100%,” she confirmed, hinting at a potential space-inspired anthem in the future.
During the brief but powerful 10-minute suborbital flight, the crew experienced several minutes of weightlessness, taking in breathtaking views of Earth from over 100 kilometers above. Perry marked the moment by singing “What a Wonderful World.”
The flight brought the passengers beyond the Karman line -- the internationally recognized boundary of space.
Their fully automated craft rose vertically before the crew capsule detached mid-flight, later falling back to the ground slowed by parachutes and a retro rocket.
The jubilant women then emerged, with Perry kissing the ground after exiting the capsule.
Monday's mission is the first all-woman space crew since Valentina Tereshkova's historic solo flight in 1963.
